REGIONAL COLLABORATIVE DISABILITY SUPPORT
Under the Disability Inclusion Act (2014), the Blayney, Cabonne and Orange Councils have taken a regional approach through a collaborative disability action planning process.
In developing the plan, the three Councils undertook a range of consultations with the community and stakeholders. The consultation was targeted at both groups and individuals throughout the communities, as well as surveying the wider council communities.
The purpose of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan is to identify actions that deliver on the diverse needs of people with disabilities in the community.
The Plan identified four key areas:
- Developing positive attitudes and behaviours
- Creating liveable communities
- Supporting access to meaningful employment
- Improving access to services through better systems and processes
Blayney, Cabonne and Orange Councils are working with the NSW Government to improve access and inclusion for people with disabilities and to give all members of the community the opportunity to participate in social, economic and community life.
